No trip to Scotland is complete without a visit to Loch Ness. With a length of over 20 miles, a mile in width and a depth of 700 feet at its deepest point, Loch Ness is the largest body of fresh water by volume in the British Isles. In fact, the loch contains more water than all the lakes and reservoirs in England and Wales put together. This stretch of water with majestic mountains in the backdrop gives rise to some of Scotland most splendid scenery. Under its surface, the loch is also home to a surprising variety of habitats including the world-famous Loch Ness Monster, more affectionately known by locals as "Nessie".
But even if Nessie fails to appear during your visit, there is still plenty to see and explore. The surrounding area is filled with historic attractions, natural wonders and charming towns and villages such as Fort Augustus.
The central location of Loch Ness makes it the perfect destination for holidays in the Scottish Highlands - it is all there just waiting to be discovered by you.
